Also, if you’re over at OpenSourcePhoto there is a whole forum dedicated to Lightroom.  OSP’ers are a very friendly bunch so feel free to ask questions if you have any over in their forum…

OSP is a good resource for many aspects of the photo business.  In addition to the Lightroom forum there is another forum dedicated to Lightroom Presets.

Here’s a link to some local training.  It’s four 2-hour sessions for $150.  I have no experience to personally endorse them but it looks like they’ve got good teachers, so if you’re interested give it a try!

Presets for Lightroom

Presets for Lightroom

If you’re dying for some presets (and you should be if you don’t already have them) then head over to onOne for some EXCELLENT presets.  They’re free and they’re amazing.  At the bottom of the page are links to videos that Jack Davis has recorded to give instruction on how to use the presets.  It’s an important part of our workflow… they’re highly recommended.  You’re not going to get any crazy effects or anything too wild with these presets, but they’re very nice and well organized to provide basic adjustments (white balance, tone, vibrance, b&w, vignettes, etc.).

Head on over to onOne for more informaiton about these free presets.

Jeffrey Friedl has a ton of great lightroom plugins and goodies. Take a peak at his blog for more information. I think we’ll add some of the items from his blog to our upcoming meetings for discussion.

Welcome!

I’ve been working with Adobe for the past few months to put together a group of photographers that regularly use Photoshop Lightroom to edit their photos.  This group is entirely focused on providing information to photographers (professional, semi-pro, and amateur) regarding Lightroom.  I’m sure we’ll dabble a bit in Photoshop as well… they do play together nicely.

In order to be recognized by Adobe as a user group you must have monthly meetings.  So, we’re going to get started in January! EVERYONE is welcome to attend. This is an open invitation to anyone who uses Lightroom (or is even thinking about using it) to join us.

The first meeting will be fairly informal and a bit of a social gathering. The main focus of the first meeting is to find out how everyone uses Lightroom in their workflow. I know that everyone probably uses it differently so it would be good if we got a starting point as to what people know and how Lightroom is used in their business/lives/etc. If you’ve got a laptop, feel free to bring it… we can hook ‘em up to the projector and you can show us how you run through a bit of your workflow.

What: First Meeting of the Indy Lightroom User Group

When: January 8th @ 2:00 pm

Where: Olry Photography Studio
4025 Rommel Drive
(Near the Indianapolis Museum of Art)
